It’s been a while since I last visited Highland bakery in Atlanta. You can find reviews of my last two visits here: Part 1, Part 2. I had been dying to get back and try a meal I had on my first ever visit, before I started doing these reviews. During my last meal that I reported, I ordered a plate of French toast, but made mention of their Peanut Butter French Toast. I wasn’t completely in love with the peanut butter version when I first had it, due to the brown sugar butter that was served in lieu of maple syrup. Back in June I highlighted some bakery treats from Highland Bakeryin Atlanta.
That was just a quick stop after lunch to sample a couple items. Today’s visit was to sit down and enjoy breakfast. It appears that since June, they have improved their rating on TripAdvisor from # 38 to # 28 of 3,353 Atlanta restaurants.
I will begin by asking that you please excuse the shoddy camera work. The photos taken here were done quickly, with the food shots taken in the car so the lighting and focus didn’t always work to my advantage.
After a disappointing meal at the Radial Cafe we decided to head down the street to Highland Bakery. Atlanta has three locations. I’ve been to the other one for breakfast, rated #176 of 1,378 restaurants in Atlanta on TripAdvisor, and loved it. The one we visited today is the original, and rated #38.
Last February, my wife and I visited Canoe for Valentine’s Day dinner. Ever since, we’ve considered it one our favorite places tried in Atlanta. After a little over a year we decided to return. Some of the dishes will be repeats from last time, others will be new to us.
We split all the appetizers and desserts between the two of us, and ordered our own entrées. The first appetizer was a repeat from last time, and was definitely worth the second try.
